Had high hopes

Looks great in photos but cakey in person. My T zone gets oily quickly as a wear it so blotting throughout the night is necessary and the product transfers if it touches anything, even with setting powder and spray. It’s also not the easiest to apply, I find applying with a brush then going over with a sponge gives the best results but it’s definitely not the smoothest application process. I’ve had better luck with drug store foundations

Unfortunately, it doesn't meet expectations; I thought it would be much better than I expected, but it wasn't.

This rare beauty foundation is the best one so far this matte look takes it all. It's very comfortable on your face doesn't feel too cakey and the bottle is really accommodating for spills I really like this product. I would buy this again .

I am in love with this foundation. I was a lancome girly for a long time and deicided to try this out. I am now a Rare Beauty girl. I have really bad oily skin and this does not go anywhere at the end of the day. Plus a little goes a long way. It has a full coverage, matte look. I 100% recommend.

This foundation is for my oily and sweaty girlies. I work 12 hour shifts and run marathons. Besides a little bit of breakdown around my nose, this foundation did not move and barely transfers onto my running towel. I recently was treated with accutane which dried out my skin, and if you do not moisturize this foundation will cake and crease. Now that I’m off accutane and my natural oils are coming through, this foundation is perfect for me.

Really wanted to love it but couldn’t

I had misplaced my foundation and needed to purchase one for big events since I don’t usually wear full makeup daily, and I was recommended to try the new Rare Beauty line since it’s new and popular. I absolutely love this foundation. I'm new to make an and I am not fond of the Kiki thick, heavy looking makeup, but this flawlessly went on my skin like butter, almost as if I didn't have anything. I have a little bit of raccoon eyes and it did great with covering them.

I never write reviews but this has become my holy grail of a foundation. I have super oily skin and this is keeping me matte and set all day long. I thought I loved the old Double Wear Estee Lauder formula, but this is better.

I use other foundations but they weren’t like all day one, but this one is amazing and stays my whole shift and it’s lightweight (work at McDonald’s kitchen in reference)

Clings to texture and goes on patchy

I had high hopes for this foundation but I just cannot get it to work for me. I have combo/oily skin. A bit of skin texture but nothing too crazy. I do good skin prep before any foundation which usually makes my skin look pretty flawless with most foundations but this foundation always seems to grab on to any type of skin texture and just enhances it. Works amazing

I love that this has such a nice feel to it, it is certainly lightweight but you can layer this if you need more coverage. Love that it feels so creamy and makes my skin looks so natural and flawless. This is such a soft matte finish.

Not for dry skin but great for long wear

I'm indifferent, the picture posted is the foundation alone(shade4) with a milky toner, a moisturizer and hue drops underneath....it still looks dry... Dry, patchy, transfers on to everything.

I wanted to like this foundation because the shade is probably one of the best shade matches I have had in a while, but the foundation itself is not good. Breaks up no matter what I do!

After having used this over 30 times over the past 3 months, I despise this foundation... no matter what I do, it breaks apart/pills on my face. matte lightweight foundation

I have combination skin and it has worked well with my skin type. I use it with a beauty blender and a little goes a long way. I don't use much before work, so it works for me as a matte lightweight foundation. I do however find myself having to reapply setting powder while at work, which I hadn't with other foundations. I will still keep using it as I love the coverage.

Shade confusion! But good foundation.

I know my shade generally across all foundations is “light warm”. Anything light with a yellow undertone. I was surprised that this shade is more “fair warm”. Way too light. I exchanged for shade 12, which is interestingly also described as light warm, but this shade is too dark and it has more of a neutral undertone. Now I'm trying to get shade 10, which is described as a light warm, but specifically warm olive, and we'll see how it works.

Beautiful finish

I impulse bought this product and I was really hoping I’d hate it so I could return it. But I loved it 😅 so I definitely will not be returning it.

I first tried this with my normal spf underneath and I was not a fan, but something told me to try the product alone and I’m so glad I did. This is the absolute best foundation I have ever worn. If you have oily and acne prone skin this is a lifesaver

Decent foundation, but doesn’t set down

I like that a little goes a long way with this foundation, and I love the locking feature on the back of the bottle. I wish more companies would do that. I just find this foundation doesn’t really set down. I still need a fair bit of powder to get the look I want. I find this applies best when I use a small amount and apply with my fingers like a moisturizer and then push it in with a brush. You still get the coverage without it looking heavy

Not my favourite and I usually love Rare Beauty products. Feels heavy, doesn't press into skin and looks soooo greasy and transfers way too easily.

Not sure if I just got the wrong color but this feels very yellow even though I picked a color that didn’t seem like it should be yellow. Still looks good once your full face is done. Has good coverage if you like full coverage. Overall nice product.

This covers just about anything! Its natural and matte looking without making you look boring. This didnt quite match my skin tone but that was OK, I was able to make it work. Feel like natural skin

Stays on in the heat!

The summers here are hot and humid. I work outside, so I usually wear very little makeup, if any, just because it usually comes off by the end of the day. This foundation stayed on for a full shift! There were no patchy spots and nothing separated by the end of the day.

Great Formula, But Test Your Shade First

I've been testing the True to Myself Natural Matte Longwear Foundation in Shade 4 Fair Neutral, and I have mixed feelings. The formula itself is beautiful. It feels lightweight, blends easily, has a natural matte finish, and wears well throughout the day without feeling heavy. It gives medium to full coverage while still looking like skin. Disappointing Shade Match

I normally wear light medium cool makeup, but the color on this one was completely off. I tried wearing it during the day and again at night to see if the lighting would make a difference, but it never looked natural. Instead of blending in, it just sat on my skin and made it completely obvious that I was wearing a layer of makeup. The only real plus is that the formula felt hydrating, which is the only reason I'm giving it two stars. I definitely won't be wearing it again.

I really loved this foundation. The colot was not correct for my skin tone, but the makeup is excellent. Usiing with the sponge allowed me to distribute very effectively. This is a high coverage foundation. Great for a night out when you may need more makeup.

Mousy texture and feels heavy. Do not like it at all very disappointed that everyone is raving about this for oily skin and I have the oiliest and look like a greaseball at the end of the day. It’s a hard no for me!

I don’t know what I’m missing. The rave reviews made me optimistic, but that wasn’t my experience. Pros: a little goes a long way. Creamy, good coverage. Cons: never seems to dry. Even with setting powder it didn’t seem to set. I’ve never experienced that with any makeup before. About 30 minutes after applying I did a 20 minute workout and the sweat removed every drop of makeup in my forehead lines. It was actually comical. Shade matching was a no-go, too. I also waited too long to try it...

Wrong color

I tried True to Myself Natural Matte Longwear Foundation 42 Deep Cool and it was the wrong color. It was too dark but I noticed that it didn't cover my dark spot and it's not a thick liquid foundation to me it really thin but I think it would be good for a touch up

I am obsessed with this foundation. It has really good coverage. The best I've ever used to be honest. I typically was an avid Mac studio fix foundation user but I am officially switching over to rare beauty foundation. This formula has been great for my combination oily and dry skin still breathable wow giving the best coverage and look highly recommend!!

An absolute dream!

This foundation applies like a dream with fingers, a beauty blender, and a brush! The coverage is just enough. It looks like skin, but covers the red across my cheeks perfectly. It blends perfectly and wears all day long. The bottle is great, easy to pump but the locking mechanism makes it so that the easy pump isn't disastrous for the inside of my makeup bag.

I was sent this product for free in exchange for my honest review. The cover and finish is beautiful! I have applied it with a damp sponge (soft touch blending sponge) for sheerer coverage and it falls within medium when using a full pump. When applied with my fingers or a brush, it's definitely a high medium to a full coverage foundation which is great! A little goes a long way. Rare Beauty True to Myself Natural Matte Longwear Foundation – Shade 8 Light Cool (Clair Froid) gives a smooth, natural matte finish with good long-wear coverage. The shade 8 Light Cool blends well for a cool undertone and looks even without feeling heavy or cakey on the skin.

I really liked it, BUUUUT

The bottle leaks constantly, despite having a locking mechanism. Even when locked, it still oozes out of the nozzle at the slightest bit of movement. It's a shame, because the formula is great, and I liked the shade match. But it just got everywhere. If you're someone who will only ever have this sitting on your vanity/counter, it might be a great fit. But if you want to have it in a makeup bag, beware!

Overall okay foundation

I really liked this foundation overall. It felt very lightweight on my skin and was easy to build up for more coverage without looking cakey. It blended nicely and gave a smooth finish. The only downside for me was that after wearing it for a while, my skin was very oily and the foundation was started to look patchy but it is also Texas weather it was humid and hot. Other than that, it's a great option, especially if you like a light, buildable foundation.

I wear foundation daily and always looking for a good light foundation that is longwear. The True to myself matte has a nice longwear light foundation that helps keep my skin breathable and not feel that heavy feeling. I've been wearing it and setting it in with powder. Great lasting foundation

This makeup is not for mature skin. Would work better on young moist skin. Hard to blend and was Cakey appearing almost instantly. I really wanted to like this but just looks bad from the get go.

Amazing full coverage foundation perfect for oily skin

Stunning full coverage foundation. This is full coverage that I tend to apply very little of to achieve a natural coverage that lasts all day on my oily skin. This product can exaggerate dry skin therefore moisturizing your skin before application is essential. My favorite part of this product has to be the packaging. I travel a lot and being certain my foundation does not spill when flying is importantly to me. It did pass flying checks multiple times since I have gotten it!

There is a great color selection. The formula feels lightweight with nice buildable coverage. I got shade 21 which is described as a light to medium warm olive. This color pulled more orange than true olive and so the color ended up looking more peachy. I was gifted this and had to choose my color without seeing the product in person, so unfortunately the color was way too light. BUT the foundation itself goes on nice! It didn't leave me greasy and I could honestly use this as a spot concealer. Best of all is the locking toggle… the amount of times I have had foundation leak is absurd. But with this, I wouldn't have to think twice about throwing it in my bag!

Great long lasting coverage

This is an amazing long lasting foundation! I noticed if I use a small amount for a sheer look, it can wear off throughout the day, but if I use at least 1 pump or more for a full coverage look- it lasts all day! I work 12.5 hour shifts so I’m wearing the makeup for at least 15 hours and it always looks great by the end of the day.

This foundation was ok. It was matte, and seemed to be long lasting, but it felt very think and cake like as I was applying it. I don't think the color was the perfect match, so maybe that's why I didn't love it, so I would def try it out in a different shade.

I did really like this foundation however I am typically light neutral in foundations and this one was just a bit to light for me. The coverage is nice and I really like that it has a lock on it it so it prevents it from spilling out or leaking in my makeup bag. I just traveled with it and there was no mess. Good coverage and suitable for combo-oily skin

So I really like that it has a lock mechanism at the back, since it doesn't have a cap. The foundation feels kind of thick, especially when trying to blend but then it thins out on the skin in a nice way. I had trouble getting it to blend with the rare beauty sponge so I wouldn't recommend that. It lasted all day and I have combo skin.

Looks good at first. Then as the day goes on any blush, bronzer, or highlighter fades away which I’ve never had with any other foundation. It’s makes your face shiny and feel’s greasy. I use makeup wipes at the end of the day and there’s no makeup on it because it all faded away or transferred

This foundation was a great shade match, it gave my skin a nice glowy "my skin but better" vibe. I was able to have nice coverage while not looking cakey. Doesn't blend well for me

I personally struggled with my True to Myself Natural Matte Long wear foundation. The shade really matches my skin tone. However, every time I applied the foundation it didn't apply or blend well. I got the shade 19 medium warm, I found it to be a perfect match.the color is not too orange or some weird under shade that I usually get with other foundations. The coverage was good it didn't look heavy but it had good coverage but you can definitely build it up for more coverage. I like liked how natural it looked but at the same time giving you coverage, really enjoyed this foundation it lasted till I removed it highly recommend!

I have been usig this foundation for weeks and I really love that this provides great full coverage without clogging my pores. This foundation does set very quickly so I learned to apply in sections with my fingers and quickly smooth it out with a damp beauty blender. I have combination skin and this foundation doesn't break me out. It provides a medium coverage that is easy to build up without looking too heavy. I don't really like that it's called medium coverage as it doesn't seem to cover much. It's light coverage if anything. I think this is a good product for everyday wear. I found the coverage bendable and can serve a wide range of shades. If you have oily skin this will look great on you. Texture blends really easy, little bit goes a long way. I used the gifted beauty sponge to apply and worked flawlessly! I applied early in the morning before work (I didn't use any primer,finish spray or setting powder) and 8 hours later the foundation looks exactly the same, so pretty! Great for medium coverage!

I absolutely loved this foundation! The first thing I noticed was its locking mechanism, where you can lock the pump so it doesn't spill in your makeup bag. When applying, it is quite buildable and easy to manipulate to your desired coverage level. It also lasts all day once set and didn't irritate my skin at all.

I have medium tan skin and I am in my forties so I try to stay away from matte foundation, but I wanted to give this one a try. I love how natural it looks when applied. This is one of the most natural, soft looking foundations I have used. I got a couple of shades too dark so I wasn't able to wear it out. But from the texture and wear. Leaky and heavy

Such a shame they discontinued the other weightless foundation and replaced it with this. The color match chart with the other one they provide is incorrect, so beware. These shades differ. It feels kinda heavy on the skin. The lock on the packaging DOES NOT really work. I took it with me on vacation, and it kept leaking randomly in my bag. I’m so disappointed!

Great but not transfer proof

I enjoy the use and bottle of this foundation. This foundation however is not transfer proof. I notice the foundation transfers on to my clothes where as in never had this issue with other rare beauty foundation.

I must of sampled ten different foundations from Sephora. Then I started to hear all the great reviews on this. So I bought it during the Sephora sale. Very pleased with this product. Love the match. It is my perfect summer shade.

This is simply great. You DO NOT need to set or prime with this as it both self setting and self priming. the ones complaining about it not working for them did it wrong obviously, especially the one saying it doesnt work with other primers.. well duh, it itself IS a primer.

I’m a skin tint girly and rarely reach for foundation anymore since hitting my 30s and developing fine lines but since I bought this product and have been using it ever since. I was a big skeptic but it goes on matte but throughout the day it looks more satin. It’s a mousse like consistency and lasts all day. It doesn’t cling onto my fine lines or dry patches.

I’ve used this 2 times and both times I had the makeup on for 12+ hours. Here’s my thoughts. I have combination skin so used a lot of hydrating skincare as a base before I used this foundation. I applied it with a dampen sponge. I then did cream bronzer, blush, concealer and set everything with Laura Mercer loose powder. I’m not kidding when I say my makeup did not budge… the whole day I was working and I got home 12+ hours later and my blush, bronzer and frantic were fully in tact. Woah...

Feel thick, shade range is confusing

I tried to shade match it in sephora, the BA said I am most match with shade 15. Bought it today bcs it is not available in the same sephora I shade matched. Now I wear it, the shade is off, shade 15 still too yellow. Not to mention it is mousy texture, it is heavy! If you have pilling skin, it is so unforgiving, it is flaky! Return this soon!

This is perfecting and incredibly long-wearing! I have combo, over 40 skin and this makes my face look so flawless! It controls the oil in my t-zone really well, while also gliding over any dry patches. I use a hydrating primer underneath. It looks just as amazing after 12-14 hours. I wore it all day with the Huda Beauty blurring primer and I didn’t shine not one bit. It stayed on all day and I live in Florida where it’s very humid and hot.

Amazing for acne

I love this foundation. I usually wear a skin tint but this is perfect when I want more coverage. It matches my skin perfectly. It blends well and makes my skin look impeccable.
