Underpainting Face Highlight & Contour Palette

I really love this palette! The shades blend beautifully and make underpainting so easy. The contour looks very natural and doesn’t turn muddy or orange on my skin. I also love having everything together in one compact palette. Perfect for creating a soft, sculpted look without looking too heavy.

Pricey but great quality

Loved it but unfortunately could not get over the price point with the amount of product it comes with. Aside from the high price point I’d recommend really creamy and easy to blend.

I never pay much attention to negative reviews because everybody's skin and tastes are different. I just know that I love this product. It pairs very well with her foundation, it's blendable and I absolutely love it. I have very sensitive skin and I didn't find it to be irritating, greasy or drying. The OG Makeup forever palette is WAY BETTER

Oh I absolutely regret buying this. I’ve already got the makeup forever palette which I’m sure this ripped the concept of. The makeup forever palette is SO MUCH BETTER I can’t even begin. This dries my skin n settles in my pores u like that of makeup forever which blurs it

Waste of $$

Waste of Money, this contour is to greasy, colors are not great in the light or fair palette for skin tones and ends up looking muddy but what I really disliked about it most is that the contour settles into your pores and makes little dark specs on areas where applied! I don't have large pores or my other contours don't do this. Also if you have sensitive shin don't put the lighter colors any where near eyes, my eyes are still burning even after removing it.

I love this product, there is so many different ways to use it and it works amazingly all ways possible.

The newly released shades have better texture

I originally bought the Light pallet when these were first released. Much like others, there’s just something about the consistency that I wasn’t in love with. I have dry skin, I use oil to help stay hydrated, but something about the formula felt almost greasy. even with my dry skin, I find this to be rather greasy. I think it's best for underpainting so that it doesn't pull up my foundation and the rest of my makeup application can tamp down the oily feeling. overall I can't really recommend as I think there are far better products out there that are easier to use and less pricey. I will say as someone with neutral coloring, I found the medium palette to work with my skin tone, but I still think it's far too expensive for a relatively mid product.

Shades are decent and blendable to achieve a more natural every day look. The “highlight” shades are perfect skin tone shades and do not brighten, so another shade expansion is needed.

Not great for highlighting the under eyes

Creamy consistency, easy to apply but it settles down horribly under my eyes!!! I don’t even have dry or mature skin. I have to use a separate concealer to highlight under my eye instead of having everything in one palette which is disappointing. Not sure if I’ll be purchasing again…

I have never used something like this before so I was very intrigued as to how much it was needed! I love how pigmented each color is. If already have a cc, bronzer, contour, and light concealer, then you really don’t need this item. If you travel a lot, I would suggest investing in one of these as it cuts down on clutter. If you love make up, I too would suggest this pallet

The tones in the palette are all really great for each purpose and I find that it’s been really easy to add this into my make up routine. It’s easy to take on the go with me as I travel and the consistency is a really smooth creamy light swipe that has been easy to blend.

The added shade range for this palette does make it useable for deeper skin tones. The formula of the shades is light/medium coverage. If you’re looking for a full glam product, this is not it. Definitely for a light/ no make up look.

Great for daily wear!

So I have a lot to say about this palette. First off, it’s a lot less pigmented than I expected it to be. I think I usually have this assumption that most higher end facial products would be higher coverage. But, instead it’s light coverage, but it’s very buildable. I actually like that as I can wear this palette for my daily makeup look, so I look just a bit more put together. Also, I love the mirror on this palette, it’s so sleek and it’s perfect for on the go touchups. Overall I like the palette!

Use title Effortless Underpainted Finish

I’ve been using this deep rich shade for a few days and it works really well. It blends fast, doesn’t look heavy, and gives natural definition. Using Mary Phillips’ underpainting technique makes it look even smoother. It corrects, contours, and highlights without any effort. Stays on all day and has become something I reach for every time.

Muddy

The shades are extremely grey and dark. The undertones are muddy and the corrector is so dark that it does nothing to add warmth. The only correcting option would be to buy the medium compact and hope to build warmth and brightness. The need to buy another compact is, I'm sure, by design to sell double the units. I am slightly obsessed with this palette. It is the truly most perfect plate for fair skin (in the fir shade) the shades are finally cool enough for me. The brightening corrector is a wonderful peach that instantly brightens. The concealers and buildable and the bronzers blendable

The tan palette is great for medium brown skin like mine. It’s buildable to my desire. I am loving m.ph underpainting palette. This palette is perfect for highlighting and contouring! I am loving the technique of applying this before foundation, it has a beautiful finish. This palette is also perfect to take with me for traveling as it has contour, bronzer, and highlighter.

Lovely colors and texture. Does not pass wear test

Love the packaging and the concept. Doesn’t smell disgusting like the foundation. The colors mostly worked for me personally. Texture is creamy and looks great at first. Slips and slides all over the place within an hour or two. Didn’t matter if I put the foundation over top and made sure my skin prep was on point. I bought this to go along with the foundation (which I’m returning). So this is going back as well. I can’t believe they are asking people to pay for a poorly thought out formula.

Great quality but not underpainting

To be honest, I’m still not a big fan of underpainting. I tried it with a few very light coverage foundations. It can be very natural and pretty if you do it right and with the right kind of foundation. If your foundations are too moisturizing and emollient, it would much easier to smear away any of the underpaint colors (no effect) or you might need to use drier foundations. How you blend also matters. If you blend the foundation over it with a brush, all underpaint colors will get blended...

Unfortunately, the poor reviews are on point. I wanted to love it, but the formula is AWFUL. There are far better options. For context, I have combination skin that leads towards dry. It totally wrecked my makeup. Sad.

I absolutely love this. I love now having to pull out a million products and am so relieved she didn’t put niacinamide in it like she did with the foundation. Feels great on my skin and gives me a natural look.

Greasy overpriced mess

Do not spend almost $70 of your hard earned money on this garbage. The packing is cute but that’s about it. The actually formula is horrible — it is EXTREMELY greasy and yet provides almost no coverage. It looks like a product you could make from mixing Vaseline with your foundation.

Tried to make it work…

I really wanted this to work but it broke me out on the places it was applied 8 hours later. I don’t break out from products easily so I’m not sure which ingredient it is. But will be returning sadly.

that color corrector

I am about to repurchase because I have gone through 3 of these pans. I love the color corrector and that's the first one I used up. of I could buy that on its own, I would grab 2 right now. I use the darker contour to underpaint and the lighter one on top of foundation. I really don't use the other 2 shades. I think the texture of these is great - bendable and works well with foundations.

Need a wide shade range

Love the formula and the concept but the shade range is a bit off. I bought medium but the color correcting shade looked very ashy, but on the deep palette it’s too orange. If there was a shade between medium and deep (like tan) that would be perfect!

The coverage and finish on this is great for dry skin. Please make the corrector into a separate product please!

I love this palette on my oily skin! It looks beautiful and lasts (almost) all day when set. I just wish they had single pan refills so I don’t need to purchase a new palette when one shade runs out.

I’m super impressed with this palette! I wasn’t too keen on buying it due to the cost, but I ended up receiving it as a gift and I love it so far! I’d repurchase it on my own! While I $60+ is expensive, you have to realize what youre getting. A color corrector, concealer/highlighters, bronzer and a contour. Thats pretty fair! The light shades work perfect for me, but it is disappointing to see a 2025 release with such limited shade ranges

Expected more; Breaks me out

Makes me break out, and I haven't broken out in years. The consistency is very odd. I find the cool toned contour shade unusable, way too gray. I've been using this for several months, and I'm going to throw it out. I hate it.

Ideal for Everyday Wear

This product is nice for everyday, no-makeup makeup looks or if you prefer wearing just the color corrector/highlight shades and skipping foundation. However, the formulas are pretty sheer so whenever I use the contour shades under foundation, they completely disappear. It’s a bit disappointing considering the price. I don't wear foundation often so it's not a huge issue for me, but if you plan to wear this regularly under foundation or a thicker base I would skip this.

This foundation is amazing. I love how it covers all of my blemishes while it is still lightweight on my skin and has medium coverage. The skin tone match for me was perfect and I love how it still looks natural on while making my face look smooth.

Too sheer

Beautiful packaging very chic and minimal. Unfortunately, the formula didn’t work for me. I found the pigmentation too sheer, especially once foundation is applied, and some shades went on a bit patchy. If you love a very soft, natural look this may work, but I personally wouldn’t repurchase.

Absolutely obsessed with the Mary Phillips Foundation. The finish is so skin-like and radiant without looking greasy or heavy. It blends effortlessly, evens out my complexion beautifully, and still lets my natural skin show through. It wears so well throughout the day no caking, no separating and photographs amazing. You can tell it was created by a makeup artist who truly understands skin. This has quickly become one of my go-to foundations for that fresh, polished, “your skin but better” look.

This is so beautiful on the skin. It sits beautifully. My skin is glowing and so radiant. I’m so in love with this coverage. I can’t wait to use this every single day. The glow is unreal. Love it! It also hides and blurs my pores.

Do not buy

Please save your money. I had high hopes for this product because I love Mary Philips but the formula is underwhelming. Once I put so my skin tint on it erases the underpainting and I have to use other products to give me a sculpted look. I even bought her brush and it made it worse and erases the product. Returned immediately

Runs out too quickly

Really beautiful formula and amazing tones in these shades, but you hit pan extremely extremely quickly. It’s not worth it to buy a new one every two months. Pretty disappointing bc I like using it on its own, but I can’t justify buying again.

Please make skin tint with this formula!

I have STRUGGLED with any products with my dry skin (during the winter especially) I have fair skin, I’m a redhead, I make sure I mix the correct products because I understand oils and waters blah blah blah I am still trying out different things. This was great for fair skin and cool toned. It melted into my dry skin and looked flawless. I hope she makes this light color in a skin tint because I am so happy with it being used as a foundation.

Product is good but all colors in deep palette are not great for deeper complexions. Some of the shades in the palette are a smidge ashy and the deepest shade isn’t deep enough for me to contour. I’ll have to stick to the complexion palette from MAC.

combo-oily & dry under eyes beware

i have combo-oily skin that leans on the oilier side and in the spots where i usually don't get very oily that i used this product, my face looked like i dunked it in water. it also really emphasized my fine lines under my eyes and i had pretty bad creasing very quickly. the shades are nice and bendable but not worth it

This looked like a fun product that I could play around with an get a lot of use out of. Sadly, it didn't live up to the hype. I saw this not so much for the contouring and the peach for the under-eyes worked pretty meh. I'd go with another palette for the contouring and color correction.

I almost didn’t purchase this because I thought I didn’t need it. I still don’t think I “need” it but I LOVE it. It’s so easy to use. The shades and undertones are perfection and it blends out with barely a touch. I used it under the Hourglass Skin Tint and my skin looks so good. It feels light on the skin and gives a nice glow. Sheer not worth the money

I should of listen to the Sephora employee when she said this one get returned a lot because color range and sheerness and makeup forever is better but I wanted to try it. It is very sheer so if have perfect skin then get it if not skip it does not cover your dark circles or freckle for the price point your better off getting merit sticks.

Obsessed. I haven’t had a holy grail product like this in a while. It’s so creamy and blends so easily. I like it for both under painting and normal contour/highlight.

User friendly! Great Product!

I was intimidated by this product, and put off by it at first. Then I watched the tutorial by Nikki LaRose and I wanted to try it myself! This product is extremely user friendly and has cut my everyday makeup routine in half. It blends super easy. The product is high quality and I’m excited to travel with it. The only comment I would have against it is that it gets messy pretty easily, but I’m pretty picky about that so it’s probably just me!

Not cool tone-friendly

When this dropped I was instantly so excited - imagine, multiple products in just one pan and one brush — so comfortable, right? I really hoped this would work, but firstly, this is a total no for cool-toned girlies like myself and very dark for fair skin. I’d love to see extra shades added in!

I absolutely love this palette!! I usually go for the Make Up For Ever HD Skin Cream Contour when I run low, but decided to try this out as it was a just a little bit more affordable. I used it on my little sister for her homecoming makeup, and let me tell you, it came out beautifully and lasted the whole night!

Disappointed- Not for oily skin

I live in Florida, it’s hot, this product looked great when I put it on, as soon as I left the air conditioned house it melted! Made my oily skin look more greasy than usual and it began to settle in to fine lines. Clogged my pores and caused acne so I discontinued using and will be returning. Probably better on those with dry skin.

I love this. But I hate the wear time. Even with setting spray and powder.. this just doesn’t wear all day.. however I absolutely love it.. I don’t use hardly any foundation with it- use it under and on top. The brush is a must.. even if you have a million. It makes the experience!!

Creamy and so blendable

I love this palette. After watching the tutorial video a couple of times, I tried all the techiques Mary suggests. I just love how natural and radiant my skin looks with this palette. Not all cakey or dull, just glowy and dewy! Might buy another for my purse and touch-ups on the go.

Game changing palette

Really enjoying this product. Been testing it for about a week. The formula is perfect for truly staying on your skin while using the underpainting method, then buffing foundation all over. I’m Asian with neutral skin tone and the light palette is perfect for me.

Did not see much of a difference. Not pigmented and also caused breakouts.

My low maintenance everyday makeup has always been concealer and mascara—but ever since getting this, it’s become a replacement for both! It’s so effective at making me look put together and so easy to apply. It also has replaced my concealer and bronzer, and quickly become my favorite thing in my beauty bag. The coverage is very light and if you have oily skin it will slip right off. The idea is nice and the design is great but the coverage is too light for me

A new favorite for the minimal girlies!

I am fair with pink undertones and purchased the "light" palette. I know this palette is meant for under painting, but I am a natural makeup girl and tried a full face with it - it's amazing. The consistency is beautiful and creamy. It doesn't take much product, and it blends out really nicely. I haven't layered foundation over it yet, but I can already tell that I'll love it!

The makeup is light weight and buildable and has a very natural looking finish. I like it best when applied on dry skin, after all my skincare has settled in. It leaves a really pretty, smooth, satin-like finish. I love using the contour shades as eyeshadow shadow. So pretty!!

You can skip this one

I like the packaging and the formula of the product makes them very blendable and easy to use. Ultimately though there is very little color payoff after foundation is applied. I have tried using them over foundation and that doesn’t really work either.

I have oily skin and felt like this product just made my face feel more oily than it was. I tried giving it a couple tries two weeks and my face felt like a ball of grease. Honestly, I can get the same outcome with contour and brazing sticks.

I am super torn on how i feel about this palette. I am on the fair/light side and cool toned and the first 3 shades work really well on me as a concealer and color corrector. the first contour shade is not too gray and not overly warm. If you have fair skin, this is not going to work for you. If you’re on the cusp of fair to light, it might work, but you should definitely swatch in store. I had such high hopes for this product. I’ve followed Mary for years & love her style of makeup. I think you need near-perfect skin for this to have any kind of effect. When I tell you my skin has NEVER looked so good and this snatched my non-existent bone structure INTO PLACE, I mean it. The light version is this is absolutely lovely for the pale gals! The contour shades didn’t go orange on me, which is really helpful. These lasted well throughout the day, and were very easy to sheer out of build up depending on what you wanted, so very buildable. Great new base staple!

I have never tried this method of under painting and this process is new to me. I love how creamy and pigmented this product is. Love that this gives that inner contour effect without feeling too evident. I’m still mastering the process.

High quality and blendable

This is a lovely, high quality palette with some good weight to it. I always prefer creams and liquids, as I have normal to dry skin, and this applied beautifully. It was easy to pick up on a brush and was not at all cakey or difficult to blend. The under eye corrector was a perfect shade for me, and although the highlight shades felt a tad too dark (I am fair-light skintone), I still found use for them around my eyes. The contour did not come across too orange either. Altogether very lovely...

I am obsessed with the overall quality of this highlight and contour pallet. This pallet easily corrects and contours your face in a super easy slim compact pallet. I was so excited to try this palette and underpainting brush and I have some thoughts. I really love this palette because it has everything you need to sculpt and highlight your face. The contour shades were so blendable and didn’t leave any streaks when used with the underpainting brush. My only critique is that the color correcting shade didn’t have enough pigment to correct my dark circles and I had to keep trying to build it up but then it made my concealer crease even when set. If you have Fair skin, read before buying!

The formula of this palette is so nice. Applies nicely and blends evenly, rather easily under or over foundation. I like the idea of underpainting and mixing the colors to get different shades. It looked so natural under the makeup! I would prefer if there was a shade lighter than “light”. The shades in the light palette is a bit dark on my fair skin and so I can’t get the highlight effect that much.

This palette by m.ph Beauty provides so many options in terms of sculpting an highlighting the face. I find that that the peach color corrector works well under my eyes. Since I am using the medium palette, the highlight shades worked well with my skin tone to have a concealing effect. I had difficulty with knowing where to apply the product, but that is user error. I did not think a soft brush would work with creams but it did, just had to dip back in the pan. I wish there was a little booklet explaining the difference between the two highlight shades. The two contour shades are a contour (cold tone) and bronzer (warm tone).

Amazing formula, not the best choice of shades

I have very fair skin with a cool undertone and the lighter contour in this palette is perfect for me. The color corrector works great for my under eyes, and the lighter highlighter is lovely too. The other two shades aren’t useful for me, so I’d love to see them swapped for cool-toned blushes maybe. Overall, I love the formulas in this palette - they blend effortlessly, are richly pigmented, yet buildable.

Travel friendly

This is so pretty. I like to have a palette that can do contour and concealer at the same time. Now lately I have not been using foundation and just adding this bronzer and a little blush and i think this absolutely adds warmth to the skin. It applies very subtle but can be buildable. It’s easy to blend, I don’t see it creasing, it also didn’t move my foundation when I did wear it. I tried both ways. This is very pricy but worth it.

I really like this face palette. The “light” one worked so well for me. I think the color corrector and light contour 1 were perfect for me. The contour 2 is a really nice warm brown. Surprisingly good!

I was actually surprised by how much I liked this. The palette is perfect for my skin tone I was a little skeptical at first but it definitely works. I would say I would love for the range to include a bit more however for the first drop I think the inclusion was really good. The brush however is perfect. I would actually love to see more brushes come out soon as well.

I’m such a big fan of Mary Phillips and I love her whole approach to makeup, so getting to try something from her brand was honestly such a treat. This palette blew me away. I’m not a pro, just a regular makeup lover, and I thought these textures might be tricky for me to use, but they’re so creamy, blend like a dream, and give that perfect “no makeup makeup” vibe. omg this product is soo good! i never used a painted makeup but this exceeds my expectations! wasn’t hard at all! super easy to apply and blend in! it’s so pigmented and high coverage which i love! conceals all the imperfections on my face like it doesn’t even exit! the contour on the other hand, just snatched my jawline and cheekbones so well! my new favorite product!

I like how smooth these creams blend on my skin. The colors look natural and not too warm or too cool. They melt in with the brush or fingers and feel light. The shades work for contour and brightening without feeling heavy. Easy for quick sculpting. Love it !

I'm so intrigued by this new brand! When I seen this palette I knew it would be good! The formula is creamy and it blends so easy! It's an incredible palette! Very versatile, and the shades were perfect. I loved the texture; very creamy, perfect for underpainting. I used it with several types of foundation and it looks good with all of them, I sincerely love it.

I've been using this concealer palette for a few weeks now, and it’s quickly become a staple in my makeup routine. I was nervous at first that the colors would be too light, but they compliment my skin tone as a lighter complexion Black woman beautifully (so don’t feel like you need to get the darkest shade if you’re medium tan). Easy to blend

This palette is amazing. I have really dark skin, always amongst the 3 darkest shades in almost every brand. I chose the color deep and it was perfect for me. Many contours are ashy or off and this looked great. I am cool toned and the contour was not ashy on me. It looked natural and worked with my face shadows. It is a cream easy to blend into my skin, making it subtle and very natural looking.

I was so excited to try this product. Mary Phillips has been a makeup industry powerhouse and I knew this product would be incredible. Good contour for medium to dark skin

Finally a contour palette and a brush that works for me. I am always between shades when choosing contour I have a neutral skin tone that can go olive or rosy depending on the season and clothes I use. However with los contours I have found that either they are to ashy or to dark for me. This contour palette was different. Many colors to mix and match. Actual shades resembling my skin tone closely. Great, But A Little Pricey

This underpainting face palette is a little bit pricey but it's a great way to step up my makeup game. It's a unique concept and makeup product, I just wish the underpainting brush was included. I feel like that would be a better bang for your buck. Nonetheless, I really like this palette and it's great for travel.

Underpainting is a really intriguing concept— I’ve done it with blush and bronzer but not complexion. I was pleasantly surprised at my results. I did use a flat brush for blending and a separate small flat shadow brush to apply the corrector, contour and highlight.
