Mini Barrier Butter Intensive Moisture Balm

This is a bad product. Its like someone put a cheap body moisturizer and made a new name for it. Its greasy on the skin and leaves a weird film that is sticky. I will be returning.

i like this product but also don’t like it. i have dry skin so moisturizing is a must for me. i feel that this does make my skin look very nice and glowy but it doesn’t feel hydrating nor does it feel super dry like it did becore i put it on. i think because the cream is so thick.

I am OBSESSED with this moisturizer!! I am kinda picky with my moisturizers because i like to mix them with the Saie drops which are also a 10/10. This one is lightweight but it isn’t too light and it’s not heavy which i love! I definitely recommend this moisturizer!!

Super Impressed 10/10

For someone that has acne prone skin and used to be on acutane, this product impressed me. I could understand your hesitations bc of its thick formula but I love this thing. Not to mention that I can feel the formula suck in my face after a few minutes. It’s definitely firming which is a huge plus. Give it a shot!

So moisturizing!

I used it with my friends every 2 nights on my trip and our skin was so beautiful in the morning. We apply it before the Glazing Milk Essence and we absolutely loved it. They could work on the smell though. It's not bad but it's not odor-less but it could be better.

This came all leaked as well as the milking one I was very disappointed I was so excited

I really wanted to love it but it gave me a bad rash on my neck.

I have sensitive skin and I hoped this would be gentle enough that I wouldn't react to it. The first use made me break out. Once it cleared I tried the barrier butter again and had an allergic reaction that burnt my skin after a couple hours. Two weeks later and my skin is still peeling from it.

First and last time using Rhode. Broke my face out so badly. Never again.

Felt my face red and inflamed

First and last time using rhode. Instantly felt like my face was hot after applying, I have dry rosacea prone skin. I quickly washed it off but am left sadly, with a very red, rashy face. Will be returning

Unfortunately, I had the same issue with my mini as others did. It's not quite as grainy as I was expecting, but it's still grainy and the texture is a big turnoff. I only tried it on the back of my hand because I wasn't sure what to expect and I'm glad I didn't put it on my face. Other than that, this balm seems like it would be great, if not a little greasy (but I think that's to be expected with a balm and wouldn't be something I would wear during the day; just at night). Super disappointed.

Very hydrating!!

I really loved how this and went through 2 it hydrated my skin specially through the winter, but it does have ingredients that can clog your pores so I think it’s something that I would use here and there not daily but still very hydrating and good

there must be an issue with the mini size, my sister swears by the full size but mine is incredibly grainy it actually feels disgusting to use. it’s like i’m rubbing sand all over my face. sure i could buy the full size and hope it’ll be better, but i wont be risking it

Incredible cream

I use this as a last step in my night time skin care routine. This cream is amazing. Although I don’t have major break outs the acne I did used to get has reduced significantly. For reference I have very dry skin.

This product gave me Perioral dermatitis. I am currently on two prescriptions from my dermatologist, trying to clear it. DO NOT USE!

Nothing good about this product

The scent is terrible. The texture is sticky and scratchy. It left my skin red and irritated. Even the packaging is unappealing. Glad I bought a mini.

I use the full size of the barrier butter everyday and love it, but I bought a travel size for a trip and it was grainy and felt like sand when I put it on my skin. Definitely disappointing because I love this product.

Broke me out badly

This product broke me out badly. My skin got inflamed and took a while to go away. I had to stop after a few of uses when I realized this was causing it. I do not recommend.

Not winter product

I buyed first time very dry skin it is thick and rich but you have to reapply for 20 times a day than it just vanishes after half an hour my skin felt tight dry itchy again . I guess this is kinnda summer moisturizer

perfect for dry hands

i used it as a hand cream for my incredibly dry hands and omg it worked wonders! i use it nightly and it’s kept my hands soft during the day, very pleased with this :)

Decent hand cream

Needed a hand cream because I had such a bad eczema situation so tried this in store - first rhode product I have purchased because the ingredients aren’t good for skin at all mostly chemical crap that clogs pores - it’s fine for teens but like k beauty this will not give you amazing skin if that’s what you want I recommend kiehls

I have really dry skin and this consistency is very thick and actually keeps my skin glowy. It stay like this for the whole day and the texture is nice to.

I mean it’s fine.. nothing really wowed me about this product. It’s kind of greasy and smells weird. It’s also really heavy which probably works well in cold drier weather but since I’m in a hot humid weather it didn’t really work.

Demithcon and oil Free

First of all, so happy that it is silicone/ demithcone free and oil free. Of course it has to do Nothing with Cerave texture wise at all. But both has hylaronic acid, vitamin E, and antioxidants.Cerave has demithcone , oil and sulfate while Rhode is not, also Rhode has peptides. Not sticky, greasy or oily. Didn’t experience break outs.

Very GOOD for very dry skin

I have been trying this for 5 to 6 days and I'd say it's good. My skin breaks out when I use a rich cream, but even though the texture and the product itself is rich, I didn't had any breakouts. I have really sensitive skin and KP and rosacea so I hope that helps.

Wonderful moisturizer after peels or lasers

It's too heavy for my normally oily skin to use every day, but it's a miracle worker post laser or post peel. I even feel like it adds some extra glow or sheen without looking glittery.

This is one of the best moisturizers I’ve used in a long time. It’s thick and my skin drinks it up like water. A little goes a really long way so I know the mini is going to last me for a while! Great addition to night time routine

I bought this with the glazing milk, which I wasn’t a fan of, but the barrier balm is definitely worth it I’ve been using it as a nighttime moisturizer and it really has helped with dryness in the winter.

Winter must-have!

I see many reviews about breakouts/damaged barrier. This cream is the only cream that has saved my extremely dry skin. Paired with the glazing milk, for the first time my skin feels supple and moisturized. Spot test first, this seems to be a product that works very well for some, and poorly for others.

I’m a bit of a skincare snob — I typically stick to top-tier products in the $100–$200 range from brands like Defenage, Allies of Skin, Bioeffect, and SkinCeuticals. I honestly didn’t expect to like this, but it performs beautifully. The scent isn’t my favorite, though it fades quickly. I really wanted to like this moisturizer but it is a hard no for me. To start the smell of this made me want to barf every day, it smells like stale lipstick (if you know what I am talking about you know exactly the scent I am referring to). This should not be labeled as skin”care”. My barrier is absolutely destroyed. I had no redness and this triggered my rosacea and now I have broken capillaries due to my skin barrier being ruined. I can’t believe this is advertised as a barrier butter.

Rare Gem for Sensitive Skin

This is one of the few barrier products that works for my sensitive skin. Unlike rhode barrier restore cream, this has NO shea butter in it and yet, is still extremely hydrating and reparative. My skin absolutely loves this.

I’m very sensitive acne prone with dry leaning combination skin and when I tell you this literally hasn’t broken me out and has HELPED me countless nights. I originally used this for recovery nights but it’s so good I actually have used it nearly every night LOL!! Buttery Heaven for your skin!

I’ve been using this for about a month now and it will be a staple in my routine long term. I am perimenopausal and use .1% tretinoin which means my skin is DRY. The texture is definitely buttery and hydrating. It is on the heavier side but not THICK. It’s very breathable and I wear it during the day and at night as my last step. There is no added fragrance, which I appreciate. The price for the large size is amazing and worth every cent.

Cured my Colorado Dry Skin

I live in Colorado and no matter what I did, the outer edges of my face was ALWAYS peeling with dry skin. This happened with and without makeup. I finally tried this product and I'm happy to say I have not experienced any dry skin since. It is very thick, but an amazing product that can be used on the face and body!!

My skin is very sensitive and needs a ton of nourishment. I can’t use many other moisturizers because my sensitive skin usually burns when I use anything else (e.g. Experiment Beauty Molecular Mesh, Prequel Half & Half, cocokind electrolyte water cream, rhode barrier restore cream are some examples). I use this every morning and night. My skin looks dewy, healthy, and I’ve noticed such a difference in how my skin feels. This is a forever purchase for me.

Can’t go without it

Really did not expect to like this product as much as I do but I genuinely cannot go a day without it. I put all my skincare including moisturizer on and then barrier butter to seal it all in. It’s the only thing I’ve used that keeps all the hydration in. This product alone single handedly healed my acne scars, got rid of my dry spots, and cleared my skin overall. I have been using this religiously since it came out and it’s a staple. I love it for winter especially! The barrier butter is soft and moisturizing. Even after it’s set in, your skin feels good. With some other brands you put their heavier moisturizers on and it feels like your skin is not as hydrated - feeling 10 minutes after. ANYWAYS, try it!! I have very sensitive skin and this works for me.

Not for the Summer

I’ve been using the Rhode moisturizer for a while now, and I think it really shines during the winter months. The consistency is rich and nourishing, which keeps my skin soft and hydrated even in dry, cold weather. However, I find it a bit too heavy for summer — it tends to feel like it just sits on my skin in warmer, more humid conditions. Overall, it’s a great product if you’re looking for deep hydration, but I’d personally reserve it for the colder seasons.

my favorite moisturizer!

I am very acne prone & use tretinoin every night which can be very drying especially in the fall/winter, and this is the first moisturizer that keeps my skin hydrated, locks in my skincare, and doesn’t break my skin out! It is a little expensive for a moisturizer but i genuinely don’t think i could ever stop using this product!

Have really bad eczema as well as sensitive skin and this moisturizer has really helped to keep my skin feeling hydrated throughout the day.

this is a great project for colder weather but i use it all year around! you wake up the ur skin so hydrated and glowing i was actually so surprised, i LOVE their 5oz it’s so upsetting they downsized so much because this is such a go to for ur skin to feel amazing although it is quite thick

I’ve been using this since it came out and it’s a 3 time repurchase for me so far. It’s a little heavy but if your skin is dry, this is perfect. I use it every night as the last step in my skincare routine - sometimes over another moisturizer if my skin is really thirsty. I always wake up with soft glowing skin. It also saved me after a little too much sun, it really helped save my damaged barrier.

I love this lotion more than anything I’ve ever put on my face. It’s moisturizing, makes my skin look so hydrated and is just the perfect texture. I have very dry sensitive skin and I’ve had zero issues with using any Rhode products

I have sensitive skin and dont tend to stray away from my tried and true products. However, I did try this and was very surprised at how much I truly love this product. It is very hydrating and gives your face that glazed doughnut look. It wears great under makeup and has not caused any breakouts. I will continue to repurchase this as it is truly a great product.

I have never written a review before but I will for this product. I have been using the barrier butter nightly for about a year. I loved it so much I now use it in the morning, and as a makeup primer. I also have multiple other skincare products from RHODE and they are all exceptional. this is by far the best moisturizer i’ve ever used. i use it every night mixed with a face oil and i wake up with the most nourished and glowing skin ever. i also use it on my neck and chest area in the day and it seriously leaves a glow for hours and hours almost like oil but in the best way. im so sad they changed the big size to a smaller size for the same price /: my only complaint because rhode has seriously changed my skin, i hope they continue to put out amazing products for good prices.

I love this moisturizer, makes my skin so glowy and beautiful!!! I do have combo to oily skin but I still really enjoy it. I get dry patches on certain parts of my face and this really helps soothe that. I docked one star because of how they changed it from 5oz to 3.4 oz, 5oz was better in my opinion, now I have to keep repurchasing which gets pesky. Love it though !!! Recommend even for oily skin.
