Much Better Options Out There

I wanted a powder foundation for days I work from home to speed up my routine, and unfortunately I have to keep looking. I’ve tried this in the past and it was good, but the new formula manages to be cakey, dry, and oily at the same time. It makes my skin look dull. It’s difficult to apply evenly and looks so bad after two hours I end up taking my makeup off and applying my usual liquid foundation. Try to get a sample of this and wear it for a day before purchasing.

Works well on my combo skin and doesn’t cling to dry patches. The texture is super smooth, so it looks natural on the skin. Not the best option if you’re looking for full coverage though.

I don’t wear foundation, but if I did this was great. It wasnt too drying and it didn’t irritate my skin, two problems I have which is why I do not wear foundation.

Truly one of the best products on the market. In addition with your normal concealer or foundation, it creates an incredible blurring effect. Forever using powder foundation now because of this! My skin either looks cakey or greasy with liquid so I gave this a go and I’m never going back Very easy to apply and not drying! Best foundation I have tried yet

I have complex skin (highly sensitive, acne rosacea, excema in some areas, flaky, sometimes crusty, and also combination) and this foundation is a godsend. So easy to apply. comes with a nice sponge but I use a brush. I am shade 3N54 Hazelnut and it is a perfect match. I will continue to buy this product. It feels very lightweight, buildable, does not settle into creases around the eye area, smiles lines, or forehead. A truly amazing product.

Really wanted to love it… but it just didn’t work

I really wanted to love this product. I tried — I gave it several chances using different application methods and prepping my skin in various ways (I have oily skin, and I know my prep routine well). But no matter what I did, it always ended up looking cakey on me. I use the foundation from this brand and it works beautifully, so I had high hopes. It’s clearly a great product for many people, but unfortunately, it just didn’t work for me.

I have used this product for a couple of weeks and I would say that even though the colour match is reasonable it is not as good as I had expected. The coverage is OK, I have used better and less expensive products in the past, which have unfortunately been discontinued. The makeup adviser steered me to this product after doing a colour match however I was not given any alternatives to compare to. Next time I will ask that they give other options to choose from.

The finish is leaves is non-cakey. So skin like on my textured skin. Still provides amazing coverage but still looking like skin. So beautiful and the shades they have are really nice.

I love that this powder foundation sets perfectly on my skin. It’s matting but not dry and patchy.

Do not buy

This is the worst foundation I have ever used. If you have sunscreen under, or have slight textual issues, the foundation magnifies the problem 100*. The same thing also happens if you want to build coverage after a few hours. Worst foundation ever, wish I had returned it.

Clings onto dry patches (and I'm an oily girly!)

Used this product for 6 months and after testing it in different climates (dry, humid, summer, winter), I can absolutely say that it is NOT a good product. I had faith because I loved the old formula when the powder was still in the black (instead of nude) packaging. It settles into all the nooks and crevices into your skin and clings onto my dry patches—and girl, I'm oily and use two moisturizers and sunscreen and primer before applying so I don't even know how that happens.

I absolutely fell in love with this product and it became my ride or die, but not incentivized/paying with my own money, it’s now $60 (CDN)!! Don’t know if this is in part due to the tariffs or what but seriously! I truly love this but not sure I can afford to repurchase or keep loving it. 😢😞

Cracks up

Didnt work for me. It’s been long since i have it and hardly used it. It cracks on my skin. Even the lightest application cracks and looks really BAD. I was expecting more. I wish i could return it.

New formulation is both oily and cakey, swerve

Before the HD skin reformulation, this was my GRAIL product. Now it burns my skin, does a horrible job controlling oil, and sits cakey and far more yellow. "Rosy" undertones are far more peach. It's sad, now I have to hunt down a new powder and with my part Indigenous, part Greek colouring that's REALLY hard.

A solid powder foundation

It's a solid powder foundation, it is buildable but not completely full coverage. I do have to set it with a setting spray otherwise you can see the powder sitting on the skin, but it does what it needs to do.

A lovely powder foundation!

As a person who typically uses liquid foundation this powder was very nice. The application looks smooth and I love the matte look. It was very easy to apply with a kabuki brush. I sometimes also used it as a setting powder. The foundation would last me most of the work day and it never looked cakey.

The old formula was amazing but definitely this one is far from those results. This one I feel like it cracks after an hour or so and you have to be re-applying which makes it look cakey after.

Don’t buy!

At first I thought, oh this is nice! Wrong! After like 15 minutes my face, especially upper lip and nose looked so cakey! Ugh! Keep in mind, I use the best base and the BEST setting spray out there! Terrible for oily skin. I think this makes my skin MORE oily. Looks great when it’s first applied, but by midday I’m horrified at how cakey/oily and gross my skin looks!

Wanted to love this since I needed a warmer shade aside from my other one which is the old packaging/formula and this is just not it. Upon application it looks great but as the day goes buy it looks so oily/cakey. Did not have this problem with the old one. Sadly will be returning.

This powder adds the most stunning airbrush almost like a filter IRL- however it’s very fragile and breaks easily :( Mine arrived to me cracked, however I was still able to salvage it a bit and I do really like the formula but it cracks easily I guess!!

To be honest when I first tried this, I preferred the old formula better. But after playing with this a bit more, I realized that I was applying too much and when I do, my lines and pores stand out more. Now that I apply it lightly, it stays on the whole day and doesn't settle into my lines as much. It's not the best for me, maybe cause of my oily skin but I don't regret buying it at all.

I do not like wearing heavy makeup and feel most liquid foundation weighs me down. However I live in a dry area so pure powder foundations are no good either. This formula is very light, doesn’t weigh me down or dry me out. It also helps smooth out my complexion which is great since I have vitiligo as well.

A terrible replacement for the old formula

I used the previous formula for many years, which blended well and was easy to apply with or without primer. My skin used to look perfectly smooth and natural after putting this on. This new formula is cakey, looks more dry and powdery on the skin. Even the sponge has changed which makes it worse. The formula looks slightly better when used with the old sponge, but not the same. I regret buying two to stock up and will not be buying this product again.

HG foundation - FINALLY!

This is my HG foundation! I’ve tried SO many liquids and they usually made me look cakey and dry, and really emphasized dry patches that I didn’t even know I had. As long as I prep my skin well, this works wonders - it’s a soft blurring matte and so easy to use. I’ve gotten so many compliments on my skin since using this. I have not tried the old version so can’t compare, but I love this product.

This is a fantastic foundation. I use a fluffy-ish brush to apply, as I wear this when I want light coverage. I was worried about powder on my dry skin, but after about 15 minutes it seems to meld into my skin and just looks NICE. It looks very natural and lasts well. I use the little sponge it comes with only if I need to conceal something and that works very well.

I really enjoy the coverage of this powder. The finish is also good. I used the included sponge for application and I like that one side is softer I feel like it looks best when applied with that side. Overall really good for summer but probably too dry for winter.

Great matte foundation

If you are looking for a full coverage foundation, this is a great option, I really like it. It’s very easy to apply, just pat the cushion gently and then press/pat all over the face and voila! Even coverage and it lasts for hours. Doesn’t really have much of a scent, it is very matte so I would only recommend if you are going for that type of look but if you are, this is a great option! Honestly it’s really impressive how long lasting it is and I am trying this in Humid summer in Florida....

Love this makeup foundation, it goes on so smooth on the skin, as I have dry skin I just make sure to properly hydrate it first to have better results. So far, it gives me a nice flawless finish, with a smoother appearance and it last for a longer time, I barely need to reapply it along the day. I also like that I found the right shade for my skin tone.

I am not usually a powder foundation girly because of the coverage but this offers medium coverage which is very light weight on the skin. During the summer this is great because heavier foundations just sweat off. Lasts well and does not look powdery on the skin.

Awesome powder foundation. I use this to help cover up redness and some discoloration spots on my face. It blends very well and is smooth when applying. It is a nice compact foundation that I can take on the go. It is long lasting too. I don’t notice any fading throughout the day.

This product came broken unfortunately. It is a very fragile powder so beware. However aside from that the product itself leaves a very satin and smooth looking finish. It did not crease easily which is the best thing in my opinion!

Nice coverage with this powder foundation. I did think that it was a little more orange toned that it looked online so be careful with what shade you choose. This powder foundation is amazing! I live in a lower latitude city where I sweat a lot during the summer, and most foundations don't last more than half a day. But this one truly stays put, keeping my matte look all day. It's fantastic!

Disappointed

The first time I purchased this product, it was the formula in the black packaging, and I absolutely LOVED it. I recently used it all up so I purchased a new one. I tried it on but the shade had an ashy quality to it. I went to my local Sephora store and tried a different shade, which also looked a bit ashy. It was barely noticeable but my husband noticed it. I wish they would bring back the old formula and shades. This is a no go. For me. dark.

I have stayed away from using powder foundation because they always tend to be cakey and heavy. But this one makes a whole difference. I have not stopped using this since I got it. Ok i was super skeptical about this. I’m not a powder foundation girl because my skin is very dry. And when i tried the original formulation of this it made me feel itchy. But this is nice. This product is great at giving a blurring effect to your skin! I love that it comes with an applicator because it makes it so easy and convenient to use, in my routine or on the go. It covers and blends all of my pores so seamlessly. It’s light, yet buildable and extremely blendable.

This powder foundation looked best when applied with a dense brush on my combo skin. The sponge that comes with it has two textures but I thought either side left me looking a little too powdery. The coverage with a brush was light and pretty. I didn’t noticed this highlighting my texture or fine lines.

I was gifted this product by Skeepers and Sephora for my honest opinion. I tend to have oily skin when applying foundation but when I applied this one by HD Skin it went on smoothly and lasted the whole night. In hot summer months I enjoy wearing powder foundations more than liquid so I really liked this lightweight powder foundation. It’s very buildable (medium to full coverage) and blurs my skin really nicely! I have combination skin and it kept me matte all day long and I really liked that! Velvet skin

This powder foundation is really matiffying and blurring my skin does look like a velvety finish I can really see the difference between my skin with and without the use of this powder although I do love using it to set my face because I usually just use concealer not foundation and it’s such a great combo!!

I have two of these foundations in different shades. Really great if you have oily or combination skin. I will say, get a shade lighter. I got medium neutral and it looked more tan but really full coverage.

This is a beautiful matte finish foundation. The packaging is sleek and the perfect size for carrying on the go. The longwear formula is perfect for wearing makeup during the warm summer months. I didn’t really have to worry about it melting off.

This is more a review of Sephora for sending me a totally unusable product then telling me there was nothing they could do but have me ship it back and see if it is eligible for refund. Incredibly disappointed that they would send a product in this condition then have it be the customers issue. Wish I could review the product but as you can see it was unusable.

Not over drying

This stuff really does it exactly what it claims to do and is really matte but without being over drying or making my skin look like it has cracks in it! It’s a velvet smooth finish and for sure full coverage!

Very good product that has a lot of coverage. I actually used this as a setting powder and it worked really well. My only issue was the price.🫣

Portable and perfect for your purse

I typically use liquid foundations as my preferred foundation type. Using this powder foundation by Makeup Forever was a real treat to try for the first time. I love how compact it is and how fun and easy it is to open it. I can take this anywhere I go to retouch my makeup while I’m commuting. The fact that it comes with the included powder puff is brilliant! I have an oily skin type, so this suits my concerns perfectly!!

Loving this foundation so far! Have been using as foundation and setting powder too. It looks flawless and really does have that blurring effect but if say it's medium to light coverage. Love the compact it comes in.

Great packaging and product

Love it! The packaging is first off so efficient. I love thst you get both a sponge and a mirror for easy application. Got a shade a bit darker but was able to use it as a beautiful bronzer. Really high quality product that blends like skin despite being a powder product.

Great compact

I was so sad that this was cracked up upon arrival, but I was still able to try it and it was not completely ruined!( Just one corner) sponge was great and the color was perfect! I love the way it makes my skin look and feel.

love the formula

I was very impressed by the makeup forever HD Skin Matte Velvet foundation. Being that it is a matte powder foundation and I have dry skin I wasn't sure how it would look. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it looked! It did not clingy to any dry patches. It felt like I was not even wear foundation. Really love this one.

This powder foundation has good coverage that helps to hide my imperfections. This feels lightweight on my skin and blends in well. I do not find it to be patchy or anything. It feels good on and it provides a natural looking finish that I like. Shade finder was a perfect match.

Great foundation

This product is great! I love how smooth it feels on the skin and is super easy to apply with the included sponge. It gives great coverage and a smooth matte look that I prefer for the summer since I tend to be oily. It wears well throughout the day and doesn’t cause patchiness.

The Blurring powder from HD Skin has really helped my skin look flawless! I have some areas that tend to get red as well as some other skin imperfections. This blurring powder does just that, it blurs my imperfections to give me a nice, even skin tone.

If you have oily skin, you will love this powder foundation! Do you guys remember the old MUFE powder foundation formula? I used to love it but it was very powdery once you tried to build it up? This one is so much better! After your skins oils set in this powder looks so skin like and beautiful. You need it! Plus it doesn’t oxidize!

Smooth finish

I have both very oily and rather dry parts. This powder works great on all areas! It gives me a smooth, soft, polished look. A small layer is enough and applies easily and quickly. Love the sponge included and the portability!

Beautiful formula shade didn’t work

The best full coverage powder foundation period. It applies very smooth with no cakeyness. The lasting power is great for a solid 8 hour. The only think I wish is the color selection. 1R2 is too pink for me but the next shade is too yellow.

A great blurring foundation powder

I was excited to try this as is it’s warm in this middle of summer and I wanted something light to give my skin great coverage yet my skin remains breed able. This comeback was easy to use. I loved the large mirror and the included puff. The powder is easy to apply to the face and gives coverage to light spots and dark circles. It’s light to wear on its own or foundation.

I haven’t been impressed with a pressed powder foundation in such a long time. I love the shade ranges and the fact that it comes with a sponge which is perfect to take with you on-the-go. It works perfectly on my combination oily skin. It mattifies, seals, and smooths the skin. It has incredible coverage. It makes my skin look airbrushed. I will definitely be keeping this product within arm’s reach!

I love this brand so much! This is a light weight formula, but it provides a full coverage. Didn't leave my face feeling cakey, which is a must in the Texas heat. It applies smoothly and evenly, covering the skin well without feeling heavy or cakey. As a medium to full coverage foundation, it provides excellent coverage without looking cakey or obvious. It covers blemishes, acne scars, and hyperpigmentation effectively, but still looks like second skin.

I enjoyed this powder foundation a lot. It didn’t leave me looking cakey but it provided amazing coverage. It kept me looking matte but not dry. I didn’t need to touch up throughout the day & it looked great at the end of the night. Enjoying the versatility of this powder. It has a comfortable feel while still making skin look matte. I used this as CD a powder foundation a while back, but now also enjoy it as a finishing powder or touch up powder. The slim packaging is what makes this one if my go to powders for travel. I absolutely love this matte foundation . I’m new to using power foundation because I’m usually a liquid type of girly but this has definitely converted me ! So buttery

I feel like this really helped. Keep my T-zone modified throughout the wear it glides on so smooth and doesn’t leave a Kiki finish it blurs my pores and fine lines. I’m able to use it on my under eyes, my T-zone or all over my face. I used my Valore Powderpuff to apply and sweeping motions and I felt that gave me the best results.

compact coverage

I have heard over and over about the rave of this powder foundation from many beauty influencers and the beauty advisors in sephora. After finally committing i can say that it is absolutely amazing. The texture is soft and enough coverage while still gentle on my oily skin. I prefer this on those no makeup makeup days it’s such an easy step and compact for on the go touch ups.

Great foundation!! Love the matte velvet finish and easy application! I really was able to pick the correct shade which made me so happy! Good for me!

As soon as I got home from work I was sooo excited to wear this!!!! It came and I ran out and had to put it on! It’s good packaging and the color matched close to me! I really like it, especially since it’s not really scented which a lot of foundations try to do now days. Which I hate, but I like this powder it’s soft and covered my pimples that I get from stress. I have dry skin so I just peeped which is face wash, vitamin C, hylaronic acid and my moisturizer (always sunscreen).

The color match was perfect. I was a bit disappointed by how easy it breaks in the pan but the product itself is by far my new favorite. I don’t find that it enhances my dry spots but it leaves me with soft blurred pores.

This powder is beautiful! The coverage, finish, and build on it is *chef's kiss* . Make Up For Ever always kills in the complexion department. I love this on days I don't want to do a full face and being oily this is great for touch ups during the day.

In love with this HD foundation. I haven’t used powder foundation since the early 2000s, so I was definitely a little scared but it turned out so perfect. Makeup Foreve as a whole is a great brand. I love it!

Amazing! Really blends in with my skin tone! I have pretty dark eyebags and this has helped them minimize the appearance of them! I also use this on acne scars and it blends them out really well! No scent which is good although it’s not super full coverage but it doesn’t something so I don’t mind

The HD Skin Matte Velvet Undetectable Longwear Blurring Powder Foundation glides on flawlessly. Reduced my redness and oils, leaving me with a matte look. I apply at lightweight and work up too medium coverage. You can also work up too full coverage. The compact is great on the go, has a button to push open. I'm happy to say I found my summer time foundation!
