DIOR Backstage Face & Body Foundation — Review, Shades & Price

Love the way this feels on my skin. Though there’s a slight fragrance there, it’s still good. For me, it’s more of a light coverage foundation but buildable.

Very Fair Skin Shade Range

I love this foundation. It feels light weight but gives me a medium, natural looking coverage. But most importantly, they have a great shade range for very fair skin (which is hard to find).

This has been my favorite foundation so far. Great for people with dry skin. It leaves a very natural finish. It’s like a skin tint that lasts the whole day! Just wish it had no fragrance at all. The scent eventually goes away though!

Light and Lovely

This feels like a baby's kiss on my skin! It is light and blends easily; can be layered for additional coverage. I don't think I'll ever go back to my previous product - which I liked. It is not a thick liquid and a little goes a long way.

I have never used a better foundation tbh

I ADORE this foundation. It has buildable coverage, but you can still see some of your skin peeking through (which makes it look natural and skin-like). Its finish is closer to matte than glowy, but it doesn't look dry or cakey. I prefer to use a damp sponge with this one because a brush REALLY sheers out the product in a way I don't personally prefer (which seems counter-intuitive). Great for people that don’t have sensitive skin

I love the coverage of this product and the way that it looks when it’s on! It was unfortunately making my face itchy so I wouldn’t recommend for sensitive skin. The Forever Glow Foundation by Dior does not mae my face itchy so I’@ll have to stick to that one now!

Thin and Plastic Smell

The make-up is an extremely thin consistency, and unfortunately smells of the plastic bottle they put it in. For that price I was surprised and very very disappointed. I had purchased two different colors because my favorite concealer went out of business. I could not get over the plastic smell of this liquid nor how watery thin it is. The colors are otherwise nice.

Not For Me Ashy Finish

I wanted to love this foundation based on my past experiences with Dior foundations. I have tried the forever Glow both in Matte and Glowy and it was simply phenomenal . This foundation oxidizes ! The finish is literally ashy and seperates its a no gor me will be going back to forever glow 15 bucks more but so worth it finish

Shade Name Does Not Match Shade Color

It seems to be a nice foundation, however, the shade is waaayyy way off! I bought it in 2CR - Cool Rosy and this is no way a foundation color for fair skin. It was too dark and orangey. I honestly thought this would be too light for me because I never buy foundations in the fair skin category. I fall into light skin shades. My advice is go shades lighter than normal.

Amazing, sadly not for my skin

The cool rosy shade is beautiful and matched my fair skin/redish purple undertones perfectly. It has a perfect lightweight coverage that can be built upon. I sadly will be returning though because this formula dries out my skin. I have dry skin so I apply oils and moisturizer as prep before primer, and even after the product makes my skin flakey. The best “natural looking” and feeling foundation. Can easily build coverage without looking caked on. Feels like it melts into your skin and blends easily. Very good for sensitive or acne prone skin. Has a slight faint floral scent but it disappears once applied.

Broke me out, and I never break out

Not Acne Safe :-(

I was super excited to try this foundation and I *really* wanted to love it, but I had to give it 3 starts after breaking out consistently as I used it (for context, I rarely ever get pimples, I can immediately tell when something’s breaking me out)! Best foundation ever for mature skin!(any skin)

Finally found my forever foundation. I read previous reviews on this foundation for mature skin. I had just tried Forever Glow and it was too drying. Gave this a chance and I am sooo thankful I did! Bumpy Face

While I really love this foundation for its spreadable texture, long lasting wear, lightweight feel and medium coverage, I do not love how my skin is now as bumpy as a gravel road and is a turn off to using this foundation

Excellent Face Coverup with Staying Power

I bought this a year ago (the container lasts a long time) to cover a facial area and could not be happier. It blends seamlessly, stays well, not powered, nor drying and it does not break your face out. The staying power was impressive even in warm, humid weather. The endless color selection is perfect.

Good but…

When I first put this on, I thought this is my HG foundation. After 2 hours, I noticed it was sticking to dry areas. I could see dry patches on my cheeks. It was settling in my creases. After 4 hours, the foundation started separating on chin.

The best foundation ever!

My make-up routine is pretty basic. Just foundation on the cheeks (to cover my melasmas), a bit of blush, brown eyeshadow, mascara and lipstick. This foundation does the trick! It matches my skin tone perfectly, keeps me moisturized, lasts the whole day and does not crackles like similar products. I always have one in use and one spare!

One of my favorite foundations

I love this. It looks so good especially with a glow serum up under it. I get so many compliments on this and I always say a good base is the key to perfect make up. This color is absolutely gorgeous especially for the winter. If you’re on the pallor side like I am, the shade up is very good for pale girls that get tan in the summer as well.

Loved the color match availability but dissatisfied with how it looked and felt on the skin after a few wears. I was hoping to find something sheer and similar to Mac’s studio radiance face and body and this was recommended by a store employee. I gave it a try but it just did not wear the same way. Eczema Coverage Winner

I have very sensitive eczema skin and this covers my red when I have flare ups. It is such a beautiful and natural finish. The formula does not break me out or cause my skin to flare ups. Not the most skin like

It does not wear well after three hours it will separate and I live in San Francisco, where it’s not hot at all so there’s no need for it to be separating. It also does have like a bit of a tingly sensation and a heavy smell to it. Perhaps for people with clear skin it’s a great option but if you have a little bit of texture, I highly do not recommend.

Perfume or foundation?

Did not work for me I have a lot of scars and pores and this water based foundation didn't give me the coverage I needed. I realized that silicone based have been more suitable for my skin but that's not the reason I'm eating this 3 stars, I hate the shades they're so warm or oxidize I also don't like the strong perfume smell it's way too strong.

Performs amazingly. Wish I could have continued to use it but the fragrance is strong and lingers which drove me crazy. Sad about that because it works so well.

Shade challenges with new formula

Dior 1W used to be my go to shade a few years ago, they keep oxidizing darker with new formula so I had to get a lighter shade in new formula (0W). I kept buying 1W and I thought it was a bad batch but single one oxidized.

My favorite foundation ever

I’ve used this for 4 years! I have really sensitive acne prone skin and this is my go to foundation. It’s buildable which is nice because I can wear it very light or layer it for important occasions. It’s hydrating but not overly hydrating so you definitely need your face to be prepped and moisturized before. I use the Charlotte tilbury pressed powder after this foundation and it’s the perfect combination.

A definite no

This is like the 5th foundation I've tried recently from Sephora. I am over trying expensive makeup! I am 56 and I wore this in 2020 and loved it. Now, it doesn't work. It looks awful, doesn't last, feels heavy and doesn't seem to dry down at all no matter what I do. I have purchased a couple of drug store foundations and 1 tint that work so much better. I literally believe drug store is no different than high end now days. In fact some of it's better.

The shade match was decent, but the formula just didn’t work for me. It sat on top of my skin and ended up looking very cakey, no matter how I applied it. Unfortunately, it didn’t give the smooth finish I was hoping for.

Love Dior but this one is just okay

I have been using this product for a few weeks. It’s okay. I was looking for foundation that doesn’t settle in the lines. It causes my skin to be a bit dryer than my previous foundation which makes my lines appear worse. I will go back to Dior forever skin glow. It works better.

I bought this after a full face makeup appointment at Sephora in Michigan Avenue. I love how it lasted for my event and I love how with more layers it can be more of a glamorous look vs everyday. Highly recommend and will be a staple for me now.

Finally found a foundation that I love!

I normally wear skin tints because foundations always feel too heavy and don’t blend well with my skin type and this stuff is my new holy grail. I have combination skin and my t zone will always get oily but this stuff stays put and doesn’t seperate. Love the neutral beige undertone as well

A Must Have in My Routine

I have only used this for a few days but I really like it. The liquid goes on easily, covers what I want it to cover, and does not over cover or sit in pores or wrinkles. It feels silky and light and lasts all day. I am very happy with this choice, it highlights my good features, and lets me feel confident. Good choice for mature skin as well as other skin types!

Not for me. This foundation did not do well on my very oily skin. It wore off on my skin and left obvious patches. It looks beautiful at first, but towards the end it doesn't. I will give it more tries but as of now, it's a no for me.

In my routine, I’ve been using Merit serum, Lawless moisturizer, Iconic London Primer, this foundation, and Tower 28 concealer. My makeup has never looked better, and actually hides my fine lines. This is now a staple in my kit - one of my favourite foundations and beautiful on mature skin. Oily skin I would say a mattifying primer first. This is in the top 2 of foundations (up with nars) but this is a better bang for your buck. Very glowy too!

Thrilled I finally got this foundation. Its staying power is next level. Great consistency. Good shade match and I'm such an in-between person being sort of olive and medium/light medium neutral toned.

Amazing foundation. This forms a matrix as it dries and stays in place. It’s similar to MAC but doesn’t take anywhere near as long to form the matrix. The finish is natural and light coverage, but buildable to probably just over medium. This isn’t a smoothing foundation, for that I would recommend using Glow Star Filter first.

Not acne safe.

I don’t mind this foundation. It is light coverage and not very buildable. It has a stronger smell and is not acne safe. For context I’m combo skin and highly allergic to products. I prefer Armani over this for sure. I will say it STAYS ON all day long. But it did make me breakout. I did return. I think it could be better for the price. I like the application. Just not great for acne prone skin.

Everything you could want in a foundation ✨️

First of all, it is really difficult to find olive shades that do not oxidize or start turning orange by the end of the day.. this stays the same color and also looks very natural. Product layers well no matter what primer, setting spray, or other makeup I use with it. Can be sponged on lightly for an everyday look or built up for special occasions. You can use sponge, brushes, or just your fingers to apply. Looks great no matter what - this is everything you could want in a foundation.

Doesn’t Last

You know why they call this backstage? It’s because it couldn’t handle front stage under lights cause baby once you start sweating it’s over with. But it is really pretty once applied, I also don’t like how dark the shade 1N is. There’s no way that shade is for fair skin!

I've never seen a foundation SO packed-full of esters and fatty acids. This new formulation is certainly no longer fungal-acne safe, but likely also very comedogenic. Way to ruin a good product. Also, this pore-clogging serum smells like chemicals now. Enjoy.

A daily staple

A beautiful full coverage foundation. Not cakey at all. I have very oily skin so this works amazing for me! Missing shade range for warm neutral tan skin tone

Been using for years and I still love it!

After trying a million different foundations over the last 20 years I've been using this one for the past 4 years and will never switch again. It is perfect for me! I has never gotten cakey. After using this foundation for a day, I can say it's not for me. I have combination skin, and this foundation made my skin more oily. I had to blot 4 times thru out a day. Absolutely love this product (I did not get it for free and these are my honest opinions). It evens out my skin tone really well. It had great build able coverage. It’s very sweat resistant. Caused the worst acne of my life

This broke me out like nothing else I've used in my whole life. When I say breakouts, I'm not talking tiny bumps, but massive whiteheads, which I have never gotten before. I tried for months to make it work, but once I stopped using this foundation, my skin was nice and smooth again within a week. So disappointing, as the formula and color were really beautiful.

I got this shade recommended to me via skin analysis when I went into Sephora with my boyfriend. I gotta admit. The foundation does leave my skin feeling pretty soft as it is a hydrating foundation. For recommended use, I'd put 1-2 drops on my hand and go in with a soft foundation brush. DO NOT USE A SPONGE AS IT WILL ABSORB IT. The finish is quite nice. Lightweight but separates

This is the only foundation I use! I probably need to get color matched, but this is the color I picked out for myself. It is a little bit yellow on me, but I still use it every day. Nothing that can't be fixed with a little concealer and powder! It smells so good, the formula is gorgeous, and a little goes a long way!

This foundation is like second skin. Apply with a brush or sponge. Gives a dewy soft finish and coverage. I have tried many.. and this stayed put for over 10 hours with primer and setting spray.

Great natural foundation for everyday

I love that the Dior backstage foundation is very lightweight and natural looking. The color was great as well.

This foundation completely separated on my skin after only about 5 hours of wear. Looks okay when first applied but not long lasting at all.

my daily foundation!

genuinely been using this everyday since I got it. it’s truly waterproof (couldn’t come off easy when I tried washing off extra product on the back of my hand) and looks better the longer the wear. easy to sheer out and build wherever coverage is needed. my dry skin enjoyed wearing this formula. it survived a night out dancing for my bff’s wedding and did not disappoint! 100% must-have

Strong fragrance & did not wear well

I did not like this foundation. It has a very strong perfume smell, which is okay at first, but there is no way this can be good for your skin. The smell lingered on my foundation brush. It was just too strong for me. Second, the fond foundation separated as the day went on. Did not like how it was wearing throughout the day. Had to return.

I'm obsessed with this foundation, it blends perfectly with the skin, gives a natural look, is super comfortable and lasts a long time, I loved it so much.

Cause breakouts and make rosacea go worse

The scent, packaging and look when you just applied it are awesome. But unfortunately caused my skin to break out after 1.5 months of usage. Makes my rosacea on my nose go worse 😞

Good but scented and needs a grippier primer

I bought this because I wanted something with a similar finish to the Makeup by Mario foundation but without the shimmer. This was recommended and while the color match was perfect, I really disliked the floral scent they added to it.

Haven’t bought this since it’s been reformulated but I thought it was time to grab one since I remembered I liked it. I do have to say that off the bat the packaging feels cheaper, the plastic bottle feels flimsy as opposed to the more structured one from my last bottle. Great everyday foundation

This is the best foundation for everyday wear! It’s lightweight but has great coverage and is amazing for natural makeup. It never appears cakey or patchy but looks beautiful on the skin without feeling thick or heavy. The shade range and tone is amazing as well and is great for warm tones without looking red.

My skin LOVES this foundation. It has never looked better! This is a perfect shade match. The foundation gave me a beautiful glow without being oily and smoothed out pores while minimizing redness. My new holy grail foundation!

It’s a no for me

A makeup artist recommended this for oily skin girls. I have very oily skin and this moved around and wore off within 2 hours. It broke me out really bad. At first application it’s semi-matte and looks natural. Not buildable.

Perfection

Just got it and it looks so beautiful on my skin and gives it nice glowy look, not oily or shiny type of glowy, smells pretty good too, so glad I purchased it.

Been using this product for the past couple of weeks. At first I wasn’t overly impressed because it looked patchy on some parts of my face, especially the parts that are drier on my combo skin. Using primer and making sure my skin is moisturizer helped resolve those issues. It also makes the foundation last longer. It isn’t as long lasting as other foundations I’ve used so using a primer helps make it last longer Toto.

Not worth it. No SPF. For it to be a luxury brand you would expect the texture to be better.

Allergic reaction

I used to looove this foundation! It was the best for oily skin. The new reformulated one it’s terrible! Gave me allergic reaction, it’s super cakey, the shades are completely different from the original one and it looks so shiny on the skin…! Just terrible.

Love this foundation. It melts into my skin really well. Looks natural, not cakey. And does a good job covering up blemishes. I’ve even inspired others to get it after they’ve complimented my skin. Would recommend!

I love this foundation! once it goes on and settles you don't even feel like you are wearing makeup. I feel like it can be overlooked a little because it is not flashy and doesn't make any big promises in the marketing but it is fabulous. It lasts all day and still looks great when I am washing it off before bed. I tried it with a couple primers but found it was best for me with no primer and just setting powder.

My favorite foundation of all time!

This foundation is one of the best I have ever used. It looks like my skin, but better! Long lasting and stays beautiful all day! I tried this after Nikki La Rosa review of all Sephora’s foundations. Price is just right!

Excellent Product

I have mature skin and find this foundation to be moisturizing without looking oily or too dewy. It doesn't settle into my fine lines or feel heavy. I've been a fan of this formula for quite a few years. I've tried many others, both more and less expensive, but always seem to return to this product.

Meh

Does not cover my breakouts or redness very well. Thought it would have more coverage but i feel like i get more coverage out of my skin tint i use. I think this also may be the cause of my breakouts recently.

On the fence with this one

Its a good foundation, skin-like, lightweight. What I dont understand is it just oxidizes the worst for me. I’ve had foundations oxidizing but not as bad as this one. I’ve tried everything to prevent this but not sure if I will re-purchase.

I typically have very dry skin and other foundations (haus labs) clinged to those dry spots on my face. This backstage foundation is a holy grailllll it smells amazing and appeared so seamless on my skin. With the right products, this product will stay exactly how you applied so I’m giving it a 10/10.

Your skin but better! Missing spf

I’ve tried many foundations over the years and after using a tinted moisturizer wanted to come back to a foundation. The price for this product is better than many other brands. It’s light but buildable coverage and matches my skin perfectly! Wears well throughout the day. I paired with the backstage primer and it goes on evenly. I do wish that it had sunscreen.

This is a lovely foundation, lightweight, but good coverage. Sadly I will be returning because of the powerful fragrance. it's so strong and lingers. I just can't handle it. which sucks because I really like how it looked and held up. I would love if they toned down the fragrance. If fragrance doesn't bother you, then this is a great buy.

As a person with dry skin, this water based foundation feels so nice on my skin. I really love how light weight it feels and I think it provides a really natural look.

I used to be in love with the Makeup Forever Reboot in Y405 but they discontinued it. I tried the Dior Backstage Face and Body foundation 4WO and it's even better! Chef's kiss! Always get compliments when I wear this.

For someone with combination skin who has always struggled with acne, this product is my favorite. I legit get compliments about how my skin is *glowing* whenever I'm wearing it!! Since it is $$ I don't always wear it, but when I do, I love it. Has such a light feeling on my face, and for someone with acne breakouts every month, i honestly love the feeling of it on my skin.

This is a lot lighter than my original color before I used to me a 2.N. I am a neutral but the neutral here pulls more peachy and orange . So i went with 4WO its more neutral than the neutral. Its as good as the original one. I get as oily as I used to get with the other formula. I do think it looks more like skin too. And I like that I can’t smell the fragrance. I do pair it with oily primers. Sometime I use the Milk, rare beauty pore diffuser, one size oil sucker and one size sweat proof one.

Unfortunately Not For Me

I used the color match. Both too light and peachy unfortunately. Also accentuated my pores. I otherwise liked the way it went on and it didn't irritate my sensitive mature skin. I had high hopes. For others, I could see this being a good foundation.
